Last week’s NFC Championship Game rematch suffered a double-digit drop in ratings and viewership on FOX.
The Week 6 NFL national window, featuring Giants/49ers, earned a 13.7 final rating and 22.8 million viewers on FOX last Sunday — down 20% in ratings and viewership from coverage featuring Cowboys/Patriots last year (17.1, 28.443M), and down 12% and 13%, respectively, from coverage featuring Cowboys/Vikings in 2010 (15.7, 25.980M).
The telecast ranks as the lowest rated Week 6 NFL national window since coverage featuring Chiefs/Steelers in the 2006-07 season (12.5, CBS).
Despite the lower numbers, the telecast earned the top audience of Week 6. After finishing behind NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” in three of the first four weeks of the season, the national window has been the top telecast in each of the past two weeks.
Earlier in the day, regional action featuring Cowboys/Ravens drew a 9.2 and 14.8 million viewers — down 12% in ratings and 14% in viewership from coverage featuring 49ers/Lions last year (10.5, 17.201M), but up 26% and 25%, respectively, from coverage featuring Falcons/Eagles in 2010 (7.3, 11.860M).
