Even with the Philadelphia market factored into the results, Monday’s clash of sub.-500 NFC teams was down double-digits on ESPN.
The Week 9 edition of “Monday Night Football,” pitting the 3-4 Eagles against the 2-5 Saints, drew a 9.5 overnight rating on ESPN — down 19% from Bears/Eagles last year (11.7), and down 5% from Steelers/Bengals in 2010 (10.0).
The 9.5 overnight is the lowest for “MNF” in Week 9 of the season since Steelers/Washington in 2008 (9.4). Notably, 2008 was the last time the Week 9 game aired on the night before a U.S. presidential election.
With that said, the 9.5 is also the highest for “MNF” since Jets/Texans in Week 5 (10.0).
Locally, Eagles/Saints drew a 57.1 rating in New Orleans and a 25.0 in Philadelphia. The New York market was not included due to the continuing aftereffects of Hurricane Sandy. Las Vegas was the top neutral market, with a 17.4.
