The NFL singleheader window put up middling — for the NFL — numbers on CBS.
The Week 12 NFL singleheader window earned a 10.5 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, down 10% from coverage featuring Bears/Raiders on FOX last year (11.7), and down 3% from regional action on CBS in 2010 (10.8).
Five of the six NFL singleheader telecasts on CBS this season have had declines from last year.
Not helping matters was the low quality of games on the CBS schedule. Each of the network’s six games involved a sub-.500 team — the 1-9 Chiefs, 4-6 Bills, 2-8 Browns, 3-7 Raiders, 1-9 Jaguars (against the 4-6 Titans) and 4-6 Chargers.
That such an ugly assortment of games could still attract a 10.5 overnight is a testament to the NFL’s enduring popularity.
