Notes from the weekend’s sports television ratings.
- The AFC Championship Game had the bigger story (Manning v. Brady) and hence the higher rating. CBS’ 28.1 metered market rating bested that of the NFC Championship Game on FOX, which scored a 26.2 rating.
- The NBA Finals rematch did fairly well for ABC; the Mavs/Heat game scored a 2.5 overnight rating, which could best the 1.9 rating for last year’s comparable regionalized NBA coverage. Any ratings increase is a good thing for the NBA and ABC.
- Outside of the NFL, the NBA came away with the highest ratings of the weekend. After the 2.5 for Mavs/Heat, Professional Bull Riding tied with college basketball on CBS for the third highest overnight of the weekend (1.5/3).
