- CBS: Ratings were up for Sunday’s NFL doubleheader on CBS. The 14.0 overnight for the Cowboys’ win over the Bengals on Sunday was up 32% from a 10.6 for Chargers/Broncos last year, while the 8.9 for early game coverage was up 5%. Meanwhile, SEC coverage on Saturday featuring Kentucky against Alabama drew a 2.4, even with Georgia/Tennessee in ’07.
- NBC: The 10.2 overnight for Steelers/Jaguars on Sunday night was off 16% from a 12.2 for Bears/Packers last year. The Football Night in America pregame drew a 4.6, down 4%. On Saturday, Stanford/Notre Dame drew a 2.1 overnight, even with NBC’s fourth Notre Dame telecast of last season.
- FOX: The lone NFL telecast on FOX drew a 9.9 overnight on Sunday, down 3% from a 10.2 last year. The 3.1 for FOX NFL Sunday was also up 3% from the comparable date in ’07.
- ABC: Ratings were mixed for college football games on ABC Saturday. Early game coverage, featuring FSU/Miami, drew a 3.6 overnight, down 28% from a 5.0 last year. Saturday Night Football, featuring Ohio State/Wisconsin or Oregon/USC, drew a 4.8 overnight, up 45% from a 3.3 in ’07. Overall, ABC averaged a 4.2 for college football coverage over the weekend, even with last year.

- NASCAR put in its strongest performance yet on ABC, though ratings were down from last year. The 4.0 overnight for the Amp Energy 500 is the best so far for a race on ABC, but marks a 5% decine from a 4.2 for last year’s comparable UAW-Ford 500.
