Sunday Night Football will be without arguably its most recognizable face this week.
NBC’s John Madden is skipping Sunday’s Seahawks/Buccaneers game “to spend time with his family instead.” Madden, who had worked 476 games in a row, will be replaced by studio analyst Cris Collinsworth.
This Sunday will mark the first time since 2001 that NBC play-by-play man Al Michaels has worked a regular season NFL game with someone other than Madden.
With NBC taking a week off from NFL coverage during the World Series, Madden will not return to the booth until November 2.
