- Through the first month of the NBA season, the Charlotte Bobcats have taken the lead in at least one statistic — the team is averaging the lowest television ratings in the entire NBA. Bobcats telecasts are averaging a 0.4 rating in Charlotte, down 65% from a year ago, and the lowest average rating in the league.
- The good news for the MLS: The MLS Cup, featuring the Columbus Crew’s first championship in team history, drew a 5.8/11 rating in Columbus, a strong rating for soccer on an NFL Sunday. The bad news: the same game drew a 0.3 in San Diego, while two Mexican League games on a Spanish-language channel drew ratings of 0.6 and 0.7 at the same time.
- The Ball State Cardinals may be a longshot for to make the BCS, but they have gotten the attention of TV viewers. Ball State’s victory over Central Michigan last Wednesday drew a 1.6 rating on ESPN2, making it the highest rated MAC telecast ever on ESPN or ESPN2, and the “most viewed and highest rated college football game ever for a Tuesday or Wednesday night on the network.”
