A rough weekend for Tiger Woods resulted in mediocre television ratings for CBS.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Memorial Tournament earned a 2.2 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, down 42% from last year (3.8), but up 38% from rain-affected coverage in 2011 (1.6).
The 2.2 overnight is tied as the third-lowest for final round coverage since at least 1997 (overnights prior to 1998 were not available).
Tiger Woods‘ other poor finishes this season have earned similarly low numbers. Final round coverage of the Honda Classic, in which Woods finished in a tie for 37th, earned a 2.3 overnight — down 28% from Woods’ second-place finish a year earlier. The finals of the Accenture Match Play Championship — where Woods tied for 33rd place after losing in the first round to Charles Howell III — drew a 1.9 overnight, down 25%.
Saturday’s third round action drew a 1.8 overnight, down 28% from last year (2.5), but up 20% from 2011 (1.5).
