Fox Sports writer Jay Glazer remains hospitalized after a routine surgery went awry earlier this week.
Glazer has been hospitalized with double pneumonia since Tuesday after his lungs aspirated during a routine back surgery. Via his verified Twitter account, he told his followers that he “had a minor back deal today that unfortunately took a pretty scary turn for the worse while under” (Twitter.com, 3/11).
Specifically, according to the gossip website TMZ.com, “Glazer was rushed to an L.A. area hospital where his breathing was so shallow his blood oxygen level dropped into the 70s (90-100 is normal) — which over any prolonged period can easily turn into a life or death situation.” While his condition has improved, according to the report, he is still receiving treatment.
Glazer expressed hope earlier in the week that he would be able to cover a UFC on FOX event this weekend, but that appears unlikely. He was still listed as part of the broadcast team for this weekend’s events in a Fox Sports press release Wednesday.
