- NASCAR’s second race of the season typically does very well. In 2005, the California race drew a 7.9 rating, and last year, the race drew a 7.4. This year, I’m predicting a 7.0 rating for the event, continuing a small slide in NASCAR numbers.
- Last year, ABC aired a Cavaliers/Pistons game in the ratings-unfriendly timeslot of 12:00 PM. That game drew a 1.8 rating. This year, a doubleheader should do better; the Bulls play the Pistons at 1:00 PM, followed by the Cavs and the Wade-less Heat at 3:30. While ratings will go up, the numbers won’t light the world on fire; look for Bulls/Pistons to draw a 1.9 and Cavs/Heat to draw a 2.3.
- If Tiger Woods is still playing, the WGC Match Play Championships should easily help NBC to a comfortable ratings win over the NBA. Even without Woods, look for the golf event to finish with a minimum rating of 3.3 on Sunday.
