For the second straight night, NBCSN earned its third-largest audience ever for a second round NHL playoff game.
Game 7 of the Canadiens/Bruins second round Stanley Cup playoff series earned 2.3 million viewers on NBCSN Wednesday night, the third-largest audience ever for a second round game on the network (previously VERSUS and OLN). Only Game 6 (2.7M) and Game 7 (3.4M) of last year’s Blackhawks/Red Wings series earned better numbers.
Four of the six most-viewed second round games on NBCSN have taken place this season alone, including Game 7 of Rangers/Penguins (2.0M) and Game 1 of both Wild/Blackhawks (2.0M) and Canadiens/Bruins (1.9). Overall, ten of the top seventeen second round games on NBCSN (or CNBC) have taken place this year.
Locally, Game 7 earned a 22.3 rating in Boston — the market’s highest ever for a second round game on NBCSN.
Also Wednesday night, Game 6 of the Ducks/Kings series drew 1.0 million viewers. Ducks/Kings has easily been the weakest draw of the second round; Game 6 was the first of the series to crack the million viewer mark.
