NBC averaged a 4.7/12 final rating for third and final round coverage of the U.S. Open from 1:30-8:09 PM Sunday, down 37% from a 7.5/17 for final round coverage on the comparable day last year, and tied as the lowest rating for Sunday coverage of the U.S. Open since ’88.
Ratings peaked at a 5.6 from 4:45-5:00 PM. From 5:45-8:09 PM, which featured the beginning of the final round, NBC averaged a 4.6 rating.
Second and third round coverage on Saturday drew a 3.4/9 from 2-8 PM, down 26% from a 4.6/11 for third round coverage on the comparable day in ’08. From 5:30-8 PM, which featured the beginning of the third round, NBC averaged a 3.1.
Ratings for Monday’s conclusion of the final round were not immediately available.
Overall, NBC averaged a 4.1 rating for coverage of the U.S. Open on Saturday and Sunday, the third-lowest two-day average for the tournament since at least ’82.
