ESPN will send three familiar faces to cover the 2010 World Cup.
Bob Ley, Chris Fowler and Mike Tirico will anchor coverage of the 2010 World Cup from South Africa. According to ESPN, each of the three will anchor “pre-, halftime and post-match shows and SportsCenter segments.”
Ley, Fowler and Tirico are three of the most prominent faces at ESPN. Ley has been with the net for nearly 30 years, Fowler hosts college football and tennis coverage, and Tirico is the voice of Monday Night Football (TV) and the NBA Finals (radio).
Scheduling conflicts exist for at least Fowler and Tirico. The 2010 World Cup starts on June 11, 2010, when the NBA Finals — which Tirico covers for ESPN Radio — will likely be underway. Additionally, the World Cup conflicts with Wimbledon, which Fowler has covered since ’03.
