Two of the NFL’s marquee franchises combined for a huge overnight rating Sunday.
The Week 13 Patriots/Packers NFL national window drew a 19.2 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, up 10% from coverage featuring Broncos/Chiefs last year (17.4), up 25% from coverage featuring Steelers/Ravens in 2012 (15.3), and tied as the season’s best NFL overnight on any network.
The Packers’ close victory matched the Week 6 national window on FOX, which featured the Cowboys’ upset of the defending champion Seahawks.
Overall, the 19.2 is tied as the highest for any NFL regular season telecast since Week 15 of the 2011 season, when coverage featuring Broncos/Patriots drew a 19.5 on CBS. For CBS alone, the 19.2 ranks as the network’s third-highest regular season overnight since it resumed airing NFL games in 1998 — trailing only the 2011 telecast and Week 9 coverage in 2007 featuring Patriots/Colts (22.5).
The Patriots have been featured in four of CBS’ five highest rated regular season telecasts in the metered markets.
The early doubleheader window drew a 10.1 overnight, down 16% from last year (12.0) and down a tick from 2012 (10.2).
