- FOX drew a 1.6/4 final rating for regional MLB coverage on Saturday, down 27% from a 2.2/6 for coverage on the comparable date last year. In 9 of the past 12 weeks, FOX has failed to draw at least a 2.0 rating for regular season MLB coverage.
- The 2009 ESPY Awards drew 2.3 million viewers on ESPN Sunday night, according to USA Today. Compared to other cable programming, the ESPY Awards fell behind the season premiere of Design Star on HGTV (2.4 mil), and barely outdrew the premiere of a Lindsay Lohan movie on ABC Family (2.1 mil), both of which aired on the same night. Compared to sports programming, the 2.3 million viewers puts the ESPY Awards behind events such as the GMAC Bowl (2.8 mil), two Westminster Dog Show telecasts (2.5 mil and 3.1 mil), several NASCAR Nationwide Series races, and multiple editions of Sunday NFL Countdown and SportsCenter.
- The series premiere of the new Terrell Owens reality show drew solid numbers in Buffalo. The Buffalo News reports that The T.O. Show drew a 3.4 rating on VH1 in Buffalo, double the ratings of “NBC’s ‘Dateline’ and the Channel 2 news on WNYO and … higher than the 2.6 rating that a “Seinfeld” rerun had on WUTV.” (via Fang’s Bites)
Updated 8/6/09 to fix typo; comparable MLB telecast in ’08 drew a 2.2/6 rating, not a 2.6/6.
