Cavaliers Exception to NBA’s Trend of Declines
- Thursday’s Cavaliers/Knicks NBA regular season game drew 1.8 million viewers on TNT, up 22% from Knicks/Nets last year (1.5M) but down 33% from Knicks/Heat in 2012 (2.7M). Later in the night, Pelicans/Warriors drew 1.3 million — down 38% from Heat/Bulls last year (2.1M) but up 9% from Mavericks/Suns in 2012 (1.2M). Of the 24 NBA national TV games that can be compared to last year, the five Cavaliers games have each increased and 17 of 19 non-Cavaliers games have declined. (via TV By the Numbers)

- The NHK Trophy from Japan, the penultimate event in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, drew a 0.6 final rating and 844,000 viewers on NBC last Sunday — up a tick in ratings and 6% in viewership from last year (0.5, 793K) and flat and down 10%, respectively, from 2012 (0.6, 942K). - The Tiger-Cats/Stampeders CFL Grey Cup drew a 0.1 final rating and 189,000 viewers on ESPN2 last Sunday, flat in ratings but up 191% in viewership from last year’s Tiger-Cats/Roughriders game on NBCSN (0.1, 65K). (via Awful Announcing)
