Despite airing in the early window, the Cowboys and Packers combined for one of the top Divisional Round overnights since the late 1990s.
The Cowboys/Packers NFL Divisional Round game drew a 26.2 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon, up 20% from 49ers/Panthers last year (21.8), up 23% from Seahawks/Falcons in 2013 (21.3), and tied as the second-best overnight for any Divisional Round game since Cowboys/Panthers in 1997 (28.4).
The Packers’ win matched Jets/Patriots in 2011 and trailed only Giants/Packers in 2012 (27.4). Those are the only three Divisional Round games since ’97 to crack the 26.0 mark.
The 26.2 overnight also ranks as the highest for an early Sunday Divisional Round game since at least 1996, topping the previous high of 23.9 for Cowboys/Vikings in 2010.
Cowboys/Packers was the top game of the Divisional Round, topping the Colts/Broncos in the late Sunday window (24.7). This year was the first since 2010 that the late Sunday window was not the top draw of Divisional weekend.
