Over three million viewers tuned into Mexico’s first match in this year’s Gold Cup.
The Mexico/Cuba CONCACAF Gold Cup match drew 3.2 million viewers on UniMas Thursday night, down slightly from the first Mexico match in 2013, against Panama (3.3M). It was not immediately clear whether the viewership included simulcast coverage on Univision Deportes Network, which drew 1.3 million viewers.
The match drew an additional 308,000 viewers on Fox Sports 1.
Mexico/Cuba topped the combined audience for United States/Honduras on UniMas and Fox Sports 1 Tuesday night (2.9M), which was the first U.S. match of the tournament.
The previous night, Costa Rica/Jamaica and El Salvador/Canada both drew 1.3 million on UniMas/UDN, good enough to boost the networks to their best day two of the Gold Cup since 2002. The matches earned an additional 99,000 and 67,000 viewers, respectively, on Fox Sports 2.
