NFL on FOX returned with middling numbers Sunday night.
Sunday’s Rams/Titans NFL preseason game earned a 3.6 overnight rating on FOX, down 12% from Chiefs/Panthers last year, down 27% from Colts/Giants in 2013 (4.9), and the lowest overnight for a Sunday preseason game since the current television deal began in 2006.
The previous low was last year’s 4.1 for Chiefs/Panthers. FOX now owns the four lowest Sunday preseason overnights since the current TV deal started.
For the weekend, Rams/Titans ranked second among all sporting events behind the final round of the Wyndham Championship on CBS (3.9). As one might expect, it easily topped ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball head-to-head (1.3).
