For the second time in as many weeks, NFL Network scored its second-largest NFL preseason audience.
Sunday’s Packers/Steelers NFL preseason game drew 2.6 million viewers on NFL Network, the second-largest preseason audience ever of the network. Only Browns/Lions last year, which marked the debut of Browns QB Johnny Manziel, earned a larger audience (2.8M).
The game was the second of the preseason to score a near-record on NFL Network, with the previous one also involving the Packers. The August 13 Packers/Patriots game drew 2.5 million viewers, now ranking as NFL Network’s third-most watched preseason telecast.
To put the numbers in perspective, MLB Network’s largest audience was 1.8 million for a Nationals/Giants playoff game last year, and NBA TV’s record high was 1.1 million for a Pacers/Hawks playoff game in 2014.
