The NFL Network began its 2009 NFL slate on a good note Thursday night.
Thursday’s Bears/49ers game drew a 2.4 U.S. rating and 3.9 million viewers on NFL Network, up 26% in ratings and 27% in viewership from a 1.9 and 3.1 million for Broncos/Browns last year.
Bears/49ers was the highest rated show on cable television Thursday night, topping competition that included Project Runway on Lifetime (2.2, 3.1 mil) and a fairly strong Cavaliers/Heat game on TNT (1.7, 2.6 mil).
Not surprisingly, Bears/49ers is easily the lowest rated, least-viewed NFL game of the season, far below the previous lows of 6.4 and 10.3 million.
