Viewership is building for the Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN.
The third edition of the Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN drew 1.2 million viewers Saturday night, up 13% from the previous edition four weeks earlier (1.1M), up 52% from the inaugural telecast in July (799K), and the most-watched boxing telecast on the network since February 1998.
Saturday’s telecast scored the largest audience yet for the PBC on cable (10 telecasts). Spike TV and NBCSN have topped out at 869,000 and 362,000 viewers, respectively. Overall, it ranks sixth out of the 20 PBC events on broadcast or cable, and is the most-watched since NBC drew 2.3 million for primetime coverage in June.
The impressive numbers came despite a weak lead-in from the ArenaBowl, which had 431,000 viewers.
Concurrent coverage on ESPN Deportes drew 355,000 viewers, bringing the total audience to just under 1.6 million.
