With most of the country seeing the Packers against the undefeated Panthers, the NFL singleheader scored a season-high overnight rating.
The Week 9 NFL singleheader window, featuring Packers/Panthers in 54% of markets, earned a 13.6 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — down 5% from coverage featuring Cardinals/Cowboys last year (14.3) but up 6% from coverage featuring Vikings/Cowboys in 2013 (12.8).
Despite the decline, the 13.6 overnight is the highest of the season for the singleheader window (nine telecasts). The previous high was a 12.2 for coverage on CBS two weeks earlier. FOX has now aired five of the season’s six highest rated singleheader telecasts in the metered markets.
Of note, Sunday’s 13.6 is tied as the highest for an NFL telecast window featuring the Panthers season — matching their Week 7 Sunday Night Football game against the Eagles.
