Overnight ratings inched up for the NHL’s annual Black Friday game on NBC. In other news, NBCSN had a slight uptick for NHL action the day before Thanksgiving, and NBC’s Premier League coverage was on par with previous weeks.
Overnights Up For NHL Black Friday
- The Rangers/Bruins NHL Thanksgiving Showdown earned a 1.1 overnight rating on NBC Friday afternoon, up a tick from Rangers/Flyers last year (1.0) and even with the same Rangers/Bruins matchup in 2013. Since launching in 2011, the NHL’s annual Black Friday game has had a 1.0 or 1.1 overnight each year it has been played. (twitter.com/nbcsportspr)
Slight Bump For NHL on NBCSN Last Wednesday
- Wednesday’s Flyers/Islanders NHL regular season game earned 236,000 viewers on NBCSN, up 1% from Flyers/Red Wings last year (233K) but down 61% from Penguins/Capitals in 2013 (602K). The Blackhawks/Sharks nightcap had 312,000; there were no comparable windows last year or in 2013. (via ShowBuzz Daily)
Another 0.8 Overnight For EPL on NBC
- The Leicester City/Manchester United English Premier League match drew a 0.8 overnight rating on NBC Saturday afternoon, tying NBC’s third-highest overnight of the season (10 telecasts). Five of NBC’s ten telecasts this season have had a 0.8, including each of the last three. There was no comparable telecast in week fourteen of last season, which consisted of midweek games.
