MLS Cup Hits Low on ESPN
- The Crew/Timbers MLS Cup earned a 0.4 overnight rating on ESPN Sunday afternoon, down a third from Revolution/Galaxy last year (0.6) and down a tick from Real Salt Lake/Sporting Kansas City in 2013. The 0.4 is the lowest ever for the MLS Cup on an English-language network. Comparable numbers for the Spanish-language telecast on UniMás were not immediately available. EPL Sees Uptick on NBC
- NBC drew a 0.8 overnight rating for Saturday’s Chelsea/Bournemouth English Premier League match, up a tick from Manchester City/Everton last year (0.7). The match was the fourth consecutive on NBC to have a 0.8 overnight. (via Sports Business Daily)
Golf’s World Challenge Dips on NBC
- Final round coverage of golf’s annual World Challenge drew a 0.7 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon, down a tick from last year (0.8) and down 53% from 2013 (1.5). Not including the debut year in 1999, for which overnights were not available, the 0.7 is the lowest ever for final round coverage of the event. The previous day’s telecast had a 0.8 overnight, down a tick from last year (0.9) and down 43% from 2013 (1.4). (via SBD)
