Premier Boxing Champions returned to primetime network TV with its weakest performance yet.
The fifth primetime edition of the PBC on NBC earned a 1.3 overnight rating Saturday night, down 19% from the fourth such window in September (1.6), down 32% from the third telecast in June (1.9), and the lowest overnight yet for a primetime PBC event on the network.
Since the inaugural telecast drew a 2.5 overnight in March, overnights for each successive primetime PBC card on NBC have either been flat or declined.
Head-to-head, the PBC on NBC trailed ESPN’s Heisman Trophy Presentation (2.0).
In other PBC action, Fox Sports 1 drew 1.1 million for coverage last Tuesday night — the network’s largest PBC audience yet (eight telecasts). The previous high was 201,000 for coverage in late September. Going back further, NBC drew a 0.7 and 1.1 million for afternoon coverage on November 28, on par with comparable coverage in October.
