Aided by an NFL lead-in, CBS drew the highest college basketball overnight rating of the season.
Tennessee’s upset victory over Kansas drew a 3.1 overnight rating on CBS Sunday, the highest overnight for a college basketball game on the network since Duke/North Carolina last March (3.4).
The game aired immediately after the Ravens/Patriots AFC Wild Card game, which drew a 19.4 overnight rating.
Compared to Kentucky/Louisville last year, which also aired following an NFL Wild Card game, Sunday’s matchup was up 29%.
The impressive number came despite heavy competition from the Packers/Cardinals Wild Card game on FOX, which drew a 21.8 overnight.
