Knicks Ratings Up on MSG
- MSG Network has averaged a 2.17 rating for New York Knicks coverage this season, up 31% from the comparable point last year (1.66). Tuesday’s Thunder/Knicks scored a 4.17 on the network, its highest for Knicks coverage since a January 2013 game against the Celtics. (MSG Network, Sports Business Daily)
Flyers/Capitals Tops NHL Week on NBCSN
- NBCSN drew a 0.3 final rating and 543,000 viewers for Wednesday’s Flyers/Capitals NHL regular season game, flat in ratings and up 8% in viewership from Penguins/Capitals last year (0.3, 505K) but down a tick and 19%, respectively, from Blackhawks/Red Wings in 2014 (0.4, 669K). The Avalanche/Kings late game had 270,000 (+3%). Blackhawks/Hurricanes had 189,000 Tuesday, up 21% from Lightning/Hurricanes last year (156K) but off 9% from Wild/Stars in ’14 (208K). Mixed Numbers For Afternoon U.S. Figure Skating Champs
- Afternoon coverage of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships earned a 1.4 final rating and 2.2 million viewers on NBC last Saturday, up 27% in ratings and 38% in viewership from last year (1.1, 1.6M) but down a tick (1.5 to 1.4) and 3% (2.21M to 2.15M), respectively, from 2014. As previously noted, primetime coverage also increased. Airing opposite the NFL’s AFC Championship Game, Sunday’s action drew a 0.9 and 1.3 million — down 40% in ratings and 41% in viewership from last year (1.5, 2.2M) and down 36% and 37%, respectively, from ’14 (1.4, 2.1M).
