Ratings and viewership sank for last weekend’s PGA Tour event at Torrey Pines.
Final round coverage of the PGA at Torrey Pines earned a 1.5 final rating and 2.3 million viewers on CBS, down 32% in ratings and 29% in viewership from last year (2.2, 3.2M). The conclusion was pushed back to Monday due to rain, earning 393,000 on Golf Channel.
The 1.5 rating is the lowest for Sunday coverage of the event since at least 1996, falling below the previous mark of 1.8 in 2012. Sunday ratings at Torrey Pines have now declined for three straight years after hitting a 3.2 in 2013 — the last time Tiger Woods won the event.
Third round action the previous day drew a 1.0 and 1.4 million, down 9% and 11%, respectively, from last year’s 1.1 and 1.6 million.
