Could Chris Berman be the latest longtime ESPN personality to jump ship?
The Big Lead reported Monday that Berman is being “heavily pursued” by NFL Network. According to the report, it is “[not] a sure thing” that Berman will remain with ESPN, where he has been an anchor for over 30 years.
Berman’s contract with ESPN expires in May.
Should Berman leave ESPN, he would be just the latest high-profile personality to leave the network. Peter Gammons left ESPN for MLB Network and NESN late last year, Dan Patrick left for Sports Illustrated and NBC in ’07, and Al Michaels — after signing an 8-year deal to call Monday Night Football games on ESPN — left for NBC in ’06.
