John Wall and the high profile Kentucky Wildcats helped boost the numbers for the SEC Championship Game on Sunday.
Kentucky’s overtime win over Mississippi St. drew a 2.7 overnight rating on ABC Sunday afternoon, up 29% from both Tennessee/Mississippi St. on CBS last year (2.1), and Florida/Arkansas in ’07 (2.1).
Overnight ratings were unavailable for the 2008 game, which aired on ESPN2.
The 2.7 overnight is the highest for the SEC Championship Game since at least 2001, edging the previous nine-year high of 2.6 set by Florida/Kentucky in ’05.
On Saturday, the Kentucky/Tennessee semifinal drew a 1.6 overnight on ABC. Meanwhile, the Mississippi St./Vanderbilt semifinal drew a 1.2.
