A battle of relatively low profile college basketball programs resulted in the only decline in ratings during the Elite Eight.
Butler’s win over Kansas St. on Saturday afternoon drew a 4.8 fast-national rating on CBS, down 11% from Connecticut/Missouri last year (5.4), and down 8% from UCLA/Xavier in ’08 (5.2).
Viewership for the game was not immediately available.
The 4.8 rating is tied as the lowest for any Elite Eight telecast — on Saturday or Sunday — since North Carolina/Tulsa in ’00 (4.6/12).
This is only the third time since 1999 that any Elite Eight game has failed to attract at least 5% of U.S. television households.
