Rained out NASCAR did about as well as could be expected on FS1. In other news, NHRA viewership suffered due to NASCAR’s rainout, and ESPN earned its smallest audience for Premier Boxing Champions.
NASCAR Rainout Scores 1.4M
- Postponed a day due to rain, NASCAR Sprint Cup racing from Pocono had 1.4 million viewers on Fox Sports 1 Monday afternoon. It was the first Monday Sprint Cup race since Texas in 2014, which aired on the FOX broadcast network. Viewership for that telecast was not immediately available. Rainout coverage the previous day had a slightly smaller audience (1.39M to 1.38M).
NHRA Dips on FS1
- Tape-delayed NHRA racing from New Hampshire had 600,000 viewers on FS1 Sunday afternoon, down 10% from last year on ESPN2 (670K). Viewership for the race was no doubt hampered by its lead-in, the NASCAR rainout at Pocono. The two previous NHRA races to air after NASCAR each topped the one million mark.
PBC Hits ESPN Low
- The latest edition of Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN scored 394,000 viewers on Saturday night, the network’s smallest audience yet for a PBC card (six telecasts). The telecast was no match for competing coverage of HBO’s Boxing After Dark, which averaged 710,000.
