Fox Sports 1 posted a slight decline for NASCAR from Michigan. In other news, both delays and preemptions sank viewership for Formula 1 and IndyCar.
Xfinity Series Down at Michigan
- NASCAR Xfinity Series racing from Michigan scored 1.3 million viewers on Fox Sports 1 last Saturday afternoon, down 5% from last year (1.4M). It was the third of the past four races to post a decline in viewership, after four of the previous five increased.
F1 Canada GP Middle-of-the-Road on NBCSN
- Last Sunday’s Formula 1 Canada Grand Prix drew 301,000 viewers on NBCSN, ranking third out of the six races on cable this year. Coverage was originally supposed to air on the NBC broadcast network, but was preempted due to breaking news. NBC did end up airing the conclusion of the race; viewership for that portion was not available. Last year’s race had 1.0 million viewers on NBC.
IndyCar Rainout Unsurprisingly Sluggish
- Rainout coverage of the IndyCar Series from Texas earned 286,000 viewers on NBCSN Saturday night, while rain shortened coverage the following day had 86,000 on CNBC. The Sunday window was originally slated to air on NBCSN, but was bumped to CNBC to accommodate Formula 1. The race was not completed and has been rescheduled for August. Last year’s race, run as scheduled on NBCSN, had 431,000.
