Game 4 between the Thunder and Lakers was the top NBA Playoff game on cable over the weekend.
Lakers/Thunder Game 4 drew a 3.2 overnight rating on ESPN Saturday night, up 28% from Lakers/Jazz Game 4 in a similar timeslot last year, and the second-highest overnight of any NBA Playoff game on broadcast or cable over the weekend.
Keep in mind that last year’s Lakers/Jazz game aired directly opposite NFL Draft coverage on ESPN2.
Earlier Saturday night, Hawks/Bucks Game 4 drew a 1.5 overnight, down 6% from Hawks/Heat Game 3 on TNT in a similar timeslot last year (1.6).
All of Friday’s games were up compared to last year, despite airing directly opposite second and third round coverage of the NFL Draft.
On ESPN, Celtics/Heat Game 3 drew a 1.8 overnight, up 6% from Cavaliers/Pistons Game 3 in the same timeslot last year. Later that night, Mavericks/Spurs Game 3 drew a 2.3, up 15% from last year’s comparable Trail Blazers/Rockets Game 3.
Meanwhile on ESPN2, Nuggets/Jazz Game 3 drew a 1.1 overnight, up 38% from Magic/76ers Game 3 in an earlier timeslot last year (0.8).
