Despite getting network TV exposure, overnight ratings were anything but impressive for the UEFA Champions League Final.
FOX drew a 1.1 overnight rating for coverage of the Inter Milan/Bayern Munich match on Saturday afternoon, up only a tick from last year’s final, which aired on a weekday afternoon on ESPN (1.0).
Saturday’s match was the first international soccer telecast on broadcast TV since the final of the Euro 2008 tournament. That match, which aired on ABC, drew a 3.1 overnight.
The match was outdrawn head-to-head by Game 4 of the Flyers/Canadiens NHL Eastern Conference Final on NBC (1.6), and tied the third round of the PGA Tour Byron Nelson Championship on CBS (1.1).
