Finally closing the deal after coming close in 2003, the Cubs’ NLCS clincher scored strong numbers on FS1.
Game 6 of the Dodgers/Cubs National League Championship Series had a 6.3 overnight rating on Fox Sports 1 Saturday night, the highest in the history of the network, including its time as Speed Channel. Overnights for last year’s comparable Blue Jays/Royals Game 6 on FS1 were not available.
The Cubs’ win, in which they clinched their first World Series appearance since 1945, topped the previous FS1 high of 5.3 for Game 5 of the series on Thursday night. The Cubs have generated the four highest overnights in FS1 history.
Outside of FS1, Saturday’s 6.3 overnight is the third-highest for the MLB Postseason outside of the World Series since 2011 — behind Mets/Cubs Game 3 on TBS last year (7.0) and Tigers/Red Sox Game 6 on the FOX broadcast network in 2013 (6.5).
For the day, Dodgers/Cubs was the top sporting event on any network — finishing comfortably ahead of the second-place finisher, Alabama/Mississippi college football on CBS (5.4). Head-to-head, the game easily topped Ohio State/Penn State on ABC (4.2).
