CBS tied its highest overnight of the season for Alabama’s comfy win over Texas A&M.
Texas A&M/Alabama had a 5.4 overnight rating on the latest edition of the SEC on CBS, up 29% from Tennessee/Alabama last year (4.2), up 93% from Texas A&M/Alabama in 2014 (2.8), and tied as the highest overnight on CBS this season (eight telecasts).
The Tide’s win, which peaked at a 6.7 from 6-6:30 PM ET, matched their week three matchup with Mississippi. Regardless of network, only three games all season have done better in the metered markets, all on ABC — Notre Dame/Texas on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend (7.0), Louisville/Clemson in week five (6.0) and Ohio State/Wisconsin last week (5.6).
As goes without saying, the SEC on CBS was the top college football telecast of the weekend, well ahead of Ohio State/Penn State on ABC in primetime (4.2). An SEC team has played in the week’s top game five times in eight weeks this season.
