ABC drew solid numbers for a pair of World Cup quarterfinals last Saturday.
Germany’s 4-0 win over Argentina drew a 3.5 final rating and 5.577 million viewers on ABC Saturday morning, up 6% in ratings and 14% in viewership from Portgual/England in a simliar timeslot in 2006.
The match ranks as the highest rated, most-viewed non-USA World Cup match on ABC, topping Argentina/Mexico a week earlier (3.4, 5.554 mil).
Spain/Paraguay drew a 3.2 and 5.311 million later in the day, up 33% and 39%, respectively, from Brazil/France on ESPN in a similar timeslot in 2006 (2.4, 3.815 mil).
Over on ESPN, Friday’s Netherlands/Brazil match drew a 2.2 U.S. rating and 3.256 million viewers, up 38% in ratings and viewership from Germany/Australia on ESPN in ’06 (1.6, 2.365 mil).
Meanwhile, Uruguay/Ghana drew a 2.2 and 3.253 million, up 69% and 93%, respectively, from Italy/Ukraine on ESPN2 in ’06 (1.3, 1.688 mil).
