Tiger Woods‘ presence is not worth much if he is out of contention.
Sunday’s final round of the AT&T National, in which Woods finished tied for 46th, drew a 1.9 overnight rating on CBS — down 59% from Woods’ win last year (4.6), up 27% from 2008, when Woods did not play (1.5) and down 35% from 2007, when he tied for sixth (2.9).
The 1.9 is easily the lowest overnight rating for a tournament involving Tiger Woods this year.
Despite the huge drop, Sunday’s final round matched the overnight rating for the Nadal/Berdych Men’s Final at Wimbledon (1.9) — which also suffered a massive decline from last year.
Third round coverage on Saturday drew a 1.4 overnight, down 46% from last year (2.6), up a tick from 2008 (1.3) and down 30% from 2007 (2.0).
