Despite hitting yet another multi-year low, overnight ratings were not bad at all for the NFL national window.
The Week 13 NFL national window, featuring Giants/Steelers in 85% of markets, had a 16.6 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — down 9% from coverage featuring Panthers/Saints last year (18.2) and down 14% from Patriots/Packers on CBS in 2014 (19.2). The 16.6 is the lowest for the national window in Week 13 of the season since 2012 (15.3).
The telecast was the 11th of 13 national windows this season to post a year-over-year decline and the eighth to hit a multi-year low.
Despite the declines, Sunday’s 16.6 overnight is the fourth-highest for any NFL telecast this season — and the highest for a window that did not feature the Cowboys.
Earlier in the day, regional action featuring Lions/Saints in 37% of markets or Rams/Patriots in 36% had a 7.8 overnight — down 29% from last year (11.0) and down 23% from 2014 on CBS (10.1).
