Ratings for the Wimbledon singles finals on NBC tumbled to the lowest ratings in at least 14 years.
NBC drew a 1.6 final rating for both the Women’s and Men’s Finals at Wimbledon last weekend, down significantly from last year.
In particular, Saturday’s S. Williams/Zvonareva match was down 30% from S. Williams/V. Williams last year (2.3), down 36% from V. Williams/S. Williams in 2008 (2.5) and down 27% from V. Williams/Bartoli in 2007 (2.2).
The 1.6 is the lowest for the Women’s Final at Wimbledon since at least 1996.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s Nadal/Berdych match was off 58% from Federer/Roddick last year (3.8), 54% from Nadal/Federer in 2008 (3.5) and 41% decline from Federer/Nadal in 2007 (2.7).
Like the Women’s Final, Sunday’s match drew the lowest rating for the Men’s Final at Wimbledon since at least 1996.
To put the numbers in perspective, not a single Wimbledon singles final had drawn less than a 2.0 rating between 1997 and 2009.
