The latest edition of Monday Night Football earned its customary massive audience on ESPN.
Monday’s Saints/49ers game drew a 9.4 U.S. rating and 15.120 million viewers on ESPN, even in ratings and up 3% in viewership from Colts/Dolphins in Week 2 last year (9.4, 14.720 mil), but down 17% and 19%, respectively, from Eagles/Cowboys in 2008 (11.3, 18.608 mil).
The Saints’ win ranks as the most-viewed cable television program since January 1, topping the previous high of 14.973 million set by Ravens/Jets last week.
Through Week 2, ESPN is averaging an 8.9 U.S. rating and 14.134 million viewers for Monday Night Football, up 4% in ratings and 5% in viewership from last year (8.6, 13.514 mil).
This is the best two-week start for Monday Night Football since it moved to ESPN in 2006.
