A poor record and a blowout loss made the Cowboys much less of a draw than usual Sunday night.
The Cowboys’ 45-7 loss to the Packers, their seventh loss in eight games this season, earned a 12.4 overnight rating on NBC Sunday night — down 13% from Week 9 last year (DAL/PHI: 14.3), but up 4% from Week 9 in 2008 (NE/IND: 11.9).
The 12.4 overnight is the third-lowest for a Cowboys game on Sunday Night Football since NBC began airing Sunday night games in ’06.
Only Cowboys/Washington in Week 16 last year (11.6) and Cowboys/Eagles in Week 9 in 2007 (11.5) drew lower overnights.
Though down from last year, the telecast was up 5% from Steelers/Saints in Week 8 (11.8), which faced competition from the World Series on FOX.
Milwaukee led all markets with a 45.8 rating. Dallas-Ft. Worth finished a distant second with a 27.8, the lowest rating for a Sunday night Cowboys game in the market since NBC began airing Sunday Night Football.
San Antonio (20.3), Las Vegas (18.9) and Austin, TX (17.8) rounded out the top five.
