Longtime Daily Show host Jon Stewart will guest-host SportsCenter to promote the Warrior Games. In other news, ESPN’s Hannah Storm begins a new reduced role, and NBC Sports has hired Phil Mickelson‘s caddie.
Stewart to Co-Host SportsCenter From Warrior Games
- Former Comedy Central Daily Show host Jon Stewart will co-host tonight’s 7 PM ET SportsCenter from the site of the Warrior Games, an annual multi-sport event for wounded military personnel. Stewart, who will host alongside Hannah Storm, will also appear during the 6 PM and 11 PM editions of the show. It is not the first time Stewart has appeared on ESPN to promote the Warrior Games; he was interviewed in a piece on the event last year. Nor is it the first time an entertainer has co-hosted SportsCenter. Actors Ken Jeong and Billy Crystal guest hosted earlier in the decade and Will Ferrell was set to do so in-character as “Ron Burgundy” from Anchorman until breaking news intervened. [ESPN PR 7.5]
Hannah Storm Begins New Reduced Role
- ESPN SportsCenter anchor Hannah Storm will begin a new limited role with the network starting with tonight’s Warrior Games assignment. Under her new deal, which was announced back at the upfront in May, Storm will host primetime specials, contribute features to Outside the Lines and E:60, and anchor SportsCenter coverage from select events, including the ESPYs and the El Clasico soccer match later in the month. Storm has been with ESPN since 2008. [ESPN PR 7.5]

- Phil Mickelson‘s longtime caddy Jim Mackay has joined NBC Sports’ golf coverage as an on-course reporter. Mackay will debut at the British Open and work the FedEx Cup and Presidents Cup before beginning a full-time schedule next year. [NBC Sports PR 7.7]
