One of the NHL’s most prominent broadcasters is facing a cancer battle.
NBC Sports and Chicago Blackhawks NHL analyst Eddie Olczyk has been diagnosed with colon cancer and will undergo chemotherapy, he announced in a statement released by the Blackhawks. He was diagnosed last week, underwent surgery and is now said to be recovering well.
In its own statement, NBC Sports said Olczyk will miss the start of the NHL season.
Olczyk has been with NBC Sports and the Blackhawks since the 2006-07 season, calling 11 straight Stanley Cup finals for the former. He has also become a regular on NBC’s horse racing coverage.
