A good year for Formula 1 ratings ended on a soft note, the Premier League neared a season-high, and the ISU Grand Prix Skate America posted its best numbers in years.
Formula 1 Ratings: Season Finale Down
Last Sunday’s Formula 1 season finale from Abu Dhabi, the final F1 race on the NBC Sports family of networks, delivered a 0.29 rating and 444,000 viewers on NBCSN — flat in ratings but down 5% in viewership from last year (0.29, 467K).
NBC did not release its final season average for F1, but viewership was up 14% across the NBC family of networks entering last week’s race.
EPL Nears Season-High
Last Saturday’s Liverpool-Chelsea English Premier League match had a 0.6 rating and 1.05 million viewers on the NBC broadcast network, flat in ratings and up 8% in viewership from Chelsea-Tottenham last year (0.6, 959K). It was the second-most watched match of the season, trailing Manchester United-Leicester City in week three (1.07M).
In other action, NBCSN drew a 0.23 (-26%) and 394,000 (-26%) for Manchester United-Brighton Saturday morning and a 0.25 (-19%) and 391,000 (-29%) for Huddersfield-Manchester City on Sunday.
Skate America Hits High
Coverage of Skate America, part of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, pulled a 0.9 rating and 1.5 million viewers on NBC last Sunday — up 50% in ratings and 78% in viewership from the comparable window last year (0.6, 820K). It was the largest audience for the event since at least 2012.
Additional coverage the previous day had a 0.75 (+7%) and 1.15 million (+13%).
