- NBC will air Wimbledon through 2011 — possibly just in time for the completion of this year’s rain-delayed Finals. In addition to NBC, the All England Club has also agreed in principle to extend its deal with ESPN. As for The Tennis Channel, which is rumored to join ESPN in televising the Grand Slam event, there is no word on what role — if any — the network will play.
- Speaking of Wimbledon, copious amounts of rain have given ESPN2 five extra hours of coverage, including one extra hour tomorrow. Coverage will run from 6:00 AM to noon, and feature all four men’s quarterfinals and a women’s semifinal.
- Thanks to lower than normal numbers for the NBA Playoffs, especially the first four games of the Eastern Conference Finals, TNT lost the second quarter in total viewers for the first time since 2003. USA Network took the top spot in the ratings for the months from April to June.
