ESPN hires Jack Del Rio
ESPN announced Thursday that it has hired former NFL coach Jack Del Rio as an NFL studio analyst. Del Rio, who will make his debut Friday, will appear on NFL Live and SportsCenter, among other ESPN programs. He previously served as a guest analyst on ESPN in March. [ESPN PR 8.15]
Kay returning to broadcast booth this weekend
YES Network Yankees play-by-play voice Michael Kay will return to the broadcast booth on Saturday, the New York Post reported Thursday. Kay has missed more than a month due to vocal cord surgery and, according to the Post, was not cleared to speak until this past Tuesday. He will return to his radio show on Monday. [NYP 8.15]
Cain able to host Fantasy Football Show
ESPN Radio host Will Cain is replacing Molly Qerim as host of ESPN2’s Fantasy Football Now, ESPN announced Thursday. Cain, who has been with ESPN since 2015, will continue in his current roles on his radio show and on ESPN’s “First Take.” [ESPN PR 8.15, The Big Lead 8.14]
Harvey leaving ESPN for Fox Sports
ESPN reporter Coley Harvey is leaving the network to join Fox Sports, he announced on his Twitter feed Wednesday. The news was first reported by the New York Post. Harvey will serve as a sideline reporter on the Fox Sports college football team of Tim Brando and Spencer Tillman, and will also have a role on Big Ten Network. Harvey had been with ESPN since 2013.
