- The 2007 Indy Racing League season is over, and the television numbers were decent. Seven races on ABC averaged a 1.7 rating, though much of that is attributable to the 4.3 rating for the 2007 Indy 500. Excluding the Indy 500, the average is 1.1. Races on ESPN and ESPN2 both averaged a 0.5 cable rating, with coverage on the latter network up 67% from 2006.
- Yankees/Red Sox drew a 2.6 final rating for FOX on Saturday afternoon. The four Yankees/Red Sox games on FOX averaged a 3.0 rating, a 36% increase over the 2.2 rating for the 20 regular season games on the network in which the two teams did not play each other. The ESPN Sunday Night Baseball match-up between the same two teams drew a 3.0, opposite Sunday Night Football on NBC and The Emmy Awards on FOX.
- The season finale of TNT’s The Closer held its own opposite the season premiere of Monday Night Football on ESPN. While Ravens/Bengals was the highest rated program on cable the evening of September 10, scoring a 7.3 national rating, The Closer drew a 6.1, up 4% over the 5.9 national rating for Cardinals/49ers later that night.
